
Beth A. Carlton, Director of the Tap and Jazz Program
Ms. Carlton has been dancing for over 30 years and has
taught preschoolers through adults for the last 15 years.
Her disciplines include jazz, tap, ballet/pointe, modern,
and hip-hop. Her elementary focus was on tap, jazz, and
ballet; at 13 she expanded her focus to include pointe
under the direction of Laura young, principal ballerina of
the Boston Ballet. She has studied at Boston Conservatory
and Broadway Dance Center in NYC. She began attending
national conventions at 15. Ms. Carlton and her husband
Travis began ballroom dancing in 1992 and currently
instruct classes in various ballroom styles at HDG. A
theater enthusiast, she has appeared locally in the Fifth
Avenue Theater production of
Annie
and Huntington Outdoor Theater’s production of
Annie Get Your Gun.
She is also a certified fitness instructor specializing in
step aerobics, kickboxing, and total body toning and is a
member of PDTA (Professional Dance Teachers Association).
Beth and her husband Travis have three children.

Meredith B. Cornell, Director of the Ballet Program
Ms. Cornell began her training 30 years ago under the
direction of Norma Gunter, studying ballet, tap, jazz, and
modern dance. At 12, she became a charter member of the Mid
Ohio Valley Ballet. She expanded her training to include
summer study in New York City and in Las Vegas under the
direction of Joanna Kneeland where she prepared for the
lead role of Swanilda in the ballet
Coppelia.
She also played lead roles in
The Nutcracker
and
Sleeping Beauty
and had roles in
The Firebird
as well as other ballets. She has completed teacher
training with the American Academy of Ballet in New York
City and is a member of PDTA (Professional Dance Teachers
Association). She and her husband John have four children.
